In 2008 the churches of God in Malawi had their first youth camp.
The aim was to equip young people with the skills and knowledge necessary to play an active part in their churches when they went home. The campers also got teaching on moral issues that would affect their lives.
The camp took place in the shadow of beautiful Mount Mulanje, the third largest in Africa. It would have taken six hours to get to the top, but we were able to walk to a sublime waterfall and marvel at God’s power in creation. Each day ended with a spiritual challenge about a Mountain up which the Lord Jesus took his disciples. The praise was enthusiastic and the young people were still singing at the tops of their lungs as they dismounted from the bus in the sprawl of Ndirande at the end of the week.
